Dear Dads,

We see it when;

  • You gaze into thin air, wondering how to take the family to the next level.
  • You work hard to put food on the table.
  • You fight to protect us.
  • You thirst for a compliment from your wife.
  • You rush home to eat wifey’s food.
  • You spank the kids and feel guilty afterwards.
  • You take everyone everywhere like you’re the Uber guy.
  • You fart and blame the kids.
  • You take accolades for the kids’ smartness and attribute it to wifey when they act stupid.
  • You bribe the kids, so you are their favorite parent.
  • You dread the thought of your daughter dating.
  • You also gloat as your son checks a girl out.
  • You yell and become world’s worst driving lesson instructor.
  • Your world ends when your sports team loses.
  • You want something.
  • You are close to the edge.
  • You cry when no one’s looking ┬ábut come out looking strong.
  • You are absolutely happy.

These and many more make you the outstanding work of art.

“Papa!”….” Daddy!”…. “Papi!”…..”Sir!”…. “Father?!”…. “Bubba!”….. “Baba!” ….”Nna anyi!” ….Whatever you are called, all I know you bring something special to our lives.

I love that you captured the fact that they may be strong but they are still emotional . Most times society underestimates the work they dad’s do too .They are the unsung heroes…and am grateful for a day like this .
