My Daughter Gets Featured In An International Music Video (…What Happens Next Is Shocking)

I’m beginning to fear how this universe operates oh. Before I give you High BP, Let me start from the beginning. I got a call from a Korean friend living here on the Island that she was asked to get some kids for a music video. The artist is from the Middle East and the theme of the song is, “Children make the world a beautiful  place”. I wasn’t keen on it, not until I heard he’s from the Middle East and my eyes lit up. Anything for my beloved Saudi Arabia and her neighbouring countries. They set a time but I told them that won’t be convenient because we had to attend church but if we can come after church, that will be better. They agreed to our request. So off we went. On reaching there, we saw the artist and his crew/family. All I could think of was his uncanny resemblance to Adam Sandler, the Hollywood actor. I thought his face was familiar but owed it to his uncanny resemblance to Adam Sandler. It was a very relaxed scene. We (parents) got acquainted with each other, watched the kids perform and finally had a feast over KFC’s buckets of chicken. When we wrapped up, I had a chat with the artist, about his music history and demographic. He then revealed he got popular through MBC’s ‘The Voice’ show. This is ‘The Voice’ Franchaise covering the Arab world. I had to go watch his videos on Youtube. It was on our way home I discovered that this artist was one of the contestants I rooted for 4 years ago while I lived in Saudi Arabia. I had just given birth to my daughter, Aliyah and I watched some of the episodes because I was a recluse and bored out of my mind. One thing was; he struck me as a good musician amongst the other contestants. Arab music can be funny if you don’t understand it because of how they run their notes but some always stand out because they invoke great emotions even when you don’t understand the words. This guy is the same SIMOR JALAL I watched 4 years ago. 4 years after, he finds himself in Grenada and out of the numerous kids on this Island, Aliyah gets to be part of the 5 kids featured in his music video. Makes me shocked at how the universe operates. Is this mere coincidence???

With SIMOR JALAL

…and his Film Director

If you follow me on Instagram (@bubus_boulevardblog), you’d have watched some behind-the-scene moments on my instastory. You see what you’re missing? Why are you not following me on Instagram? I’m just glad I’m giving back to the land of her birth. Yeah, my two kids are born in Saudi Arabia. I look forward to the release of the video and promise to post it on my social media platforms. From the clips I saw, the video will be LIT! For those of you who don’t know Simor Jalal. He is an Iraqi singer who’s very popular in the Middle East and Arab world at large. His music is going global through Arabs living worldwide. Here is a little Wikipedia of this awesome dude. Copyright issues won’t let me post his Youtube videos here. So go check him out. We wish him well in all his endeavours.

Wao! This is so cute. I’ve never heard of any iraqi or saudi arabian music. I’m glad to know one and your daughter is super blessed to be on the video. She might decide to develop interest in music, you know.

Thanks dear. Oh yes, she loves music and dance. Matter of fact, it was tough getting her to watch kids channels in her first two years. All she wanted was watch music videos. As she blurted out the first “Let it go” from the animation ‘Frozen’, it was a celebration in our house. We ran with it and showed her the endless world of animations. lol….now we are fighting for her to at least be easy on the cartoons. Story for the gods!
