Happy Sunday, y’all! How una de? Remember in my last post, I said I’d be publishing from a backlog of posts I created in Nigeria, that I couldn’t publish because of time. Well, here’s one of them. I might not just pour them all out at once but will publish them randomly alongside My new experience in Grenada, as the shhpirit leads.
My dear Nigerians. What is really going on in this country? People are so angry! Are you not? Well, I was! While In Naija, so many things got me mad but I can’t throw my beloved country away.
Two weeks ago, I was in a gridlock traffic, minding my own business. In fact, I got so bored and frustrated waiting, that I started making a video of myself miming to Beyonce’s ‘7/11’. Before I knew it, there was chaos everywhere. What happened? A young guy (let’s call him Man A), driving a small bus, carrying passengers blocked the detour lane when he intended to go onward. The detour lane was free but since the traffic onward was halted, he obstructed the movement of the cars trying to make a detour. Behind him was a man in his late 40s(let’s call him Man B), driving a slightly dilapidated Hiace bus. This Man was so impatient to make his detour. He blared his horn so loud at Man A. An angry man came to Man A, asking him to steer clear of that lane. While they yelled at eachother, trying to prove their points, this impatient Hiace driver (Man B) jumped down and started punching the guy from outside. The guy who was being punched tried defending himself by spewing threats but was saying, “I de respect you oh…“. Obviously, Man B, a middle aged man looked 15 years older than the young man obstructing the road and out of respect, Man A didn’t want to raise his hand on Man B. Tempers grew, carotid arteries were about to burst and suddenly Man B opened the door of his car and brought out a 15 inch metal bar to hit Man A. Then a herculean brawl erupted between these two. They were just in my fore and the next thing I knew, they were pouncing and bouncing off the body of my car. I imagined all the horrible things that could have happened in split seconds. First, my baby was strapped behind, secondly, who has money to coman be fixing car in this recession? I was screaming on top of my voice to go away from there while I try to move out of that tight spot. The police came to the scene and a lady amongst them whipped the hell out of those two. They split up like little kids, Man B faced the female police for whipping him. Saying, women don’t touch him because it’s an abomination (Wehdone Sir!…but “The Madam on top” touches you. Issokay!)The lady got even more furious and pushed him. More force members joined and focused angrily on Man B. Took him to the side of the road to really drill him and arrest him, alongside Man A. At this point traffic was clear and I just thought to myself, “Wouldn’t a little…just a little patience done this man a whole lot of good and time saving?”. Everybody on the scene started getting into arguments about who was at fault. Matter of fact, a heated argument erupted in a taxi between two men as aged as the two culprits. Each defending their peers. SMH
See how someone’s day turned from good, maybe bad, to worse. Temper running wild is the order of the day, especially in relationships and work places. If you know you flare up easily, try to take a break out of the area that is pushing you real hard. You might save yourself a truck load of trouble that the devil prepared for you. If a relationship is built on flaring tempers, violence, then make up sex….soon you’d have a funeral or attend your partner’s. Take time and read what the Bible says about anger. It’s just something, you don’t need. Do not let anger consume you and take over your thinking. So when something gets on your nerve, just sing like me. Hehehe(I’m not perfect, tho!)
Have a blessed week.
